The Amazing Spider-Man‘s new trailer looks pretty damned amazing: There’s dizzying footage of the masked teen swinging through nighttime Manhattan, plus glimpses of a creepy reptilian tail, the discovery of an ominous creature and news reports of a “biological attack on New York.” Spectacular aerial shots catch sinewy Spidey (played by Andrew Garfield) as he slings his way up, down and in-between gleaming skyscrapers. He banters sarcastically with a street hoodlum, but the teaser generally sticks with a somber, character-driven vibe. Portraying Spider-Man and his alter ego Peter Parker, Garfield’s voiceover lays out the orphan theme that director Marc Webb and his team have been hammering away at since hosting a worldwide preview in February. “The one thing that has haunted me my entire life is finding the truth about my parents,” Spidey says. Emma Stone, as Parker’s high-school sweetheart Gwen Stacy, reminds us that her police chief father (Denis Leary) regards Spider-Man as an out-of-control vigilante, but it’s Rhys Ifans, as the scientifically minded Lizard, who plays the heavy when he challenges Spider-Man. “Do you have any idea what you really are?” the supervillain asks. The Amazing Spider-Man, in 3-D and co-starring Martin Sheen and Sally Field, opens July 3. Article from Wired Magazine

Christopher Nolan has always said that The Dark Knight Rises would be the last film in his Batman trilogy, but that doesn’t mean that Warner Bros. wants to stop producing adventures for the caped crusader. The franchise is a surefire box office hit and it wouldn’t make sense for the studio to just drop it after The Dark Knight Rises. They already lost Harry Potter and I’m sure that they’re not eager to lose another huge franchise. Today, the studio announced that they plan on giving Batman a reboot once Christopher Nolan steps away from the franchise. Being a reboot, none of the original cast will be returning which means that the studio needs to find a new actor to play the caped crusader. Following in the footsteps of Christian Bale is a daunting task for just about anyone but Warner Bros. seems to think that Ryan Reynolds is the man for the job. Yes, you read that right. Once Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale depart from the Batman universe, Warner Bros. will reboot it with Ryan Reynolds in the lead role. The studio recently worked with him on Green Lantern and though the film flopped, it wasn’t Reynolds’ fault. He showed us that he could craft an effective superhero and Warner Bros. obviously enjoyed his performance. Much of the film’s faults stemmed from the writing and directing, not from Reynolds’ performance. “We’ve begged Chris [Nolan] to stay on board but he refuses. He feels that he can’t do anything more with the series after this third film. We don’t want to let Batman die though, we know there are tons of fans out there that will want more and that’s why we’re looking into a reboot,” says Barry Meyer, CEO of Warner Bros. “We loved the work that Ryan did for us on Green Lantern and we feel that he’s the right man to lead the Batman franchise. He’s an extremely talented individual and we hope that fans will embrace him as the new Batman,” continued Meyer. As for directors, nothing has been announced as of yet but apparently, the studio wants Duncan Jones. Jones, the director of Source Code, was rumored for both The Wolverine and Man Of Steel at one point so it’s clear that studios feel that he can handle big franchises. This is by no means confirmed though but it is what our source close to the studio has told us. “Duncan impressed a lot of people with his work on Source Code and Moon, he’s very in demand right now and Warner Bros. is hoping to have him take over the Batman franchise,” says a source close to the studio. So there you have it, Duncan Jones and Ryan Reynolds taking on Batman, what do you think? I honestly enjoyed Reynolds’ work in Green Lantern and while I am surprised that Warner Bros. has chosen him to lead the franchise, I’m not upset with the choice. I think he has a lot of potential...

Total Recall is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), the leader of the free world – Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) to find the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy) and stop Cohaagen.
He’s played the rock god Jim Morrison, Moses, and even Batman, but now Val Kilmer is taking on the diety of authors: Mark Twain, in a one-man play, “Citizen Twain,” which he created. The 52-year-old wrote, directed, and stars in the project. The show, which will run for two weekends at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, is all just preparation for a movie that Kilmer is set to do also as Twain, “Mark Twain and Mary Baker Eddy.” The two were historical adversaries: Twain, a social satirist, and Eddy, the founder of Christian science. The pair never met, but Twain was obsessed with her views, and wrote screeds against her. Kilmer told the Huffington Post that after seven years studying the two, “It’s very much like ‘Amadeus.’ It’s a dual biography. I’m regretting that now, because it’s really hard to do.” As Twain, the “Heat” actor is unrecognizable. Fans may be reminded that the actor’s trademark is exhaustive research in a role, and the Twain project is no exception. Kilmer wears the signature wild white hair and trademark mustache. His face is wrinkled, and he speaks with Twain’s twang. The “Willow” actor, whose career has long been in a slump, is apparently financing the film himself. A note on the movie’s website says the actor sold his New Mexico home to help with funding. Kilmer, who is also an accomplished stage actor, told the Hollywood Reporter that the live performance is a great way into the character, who, he said, he’s always loved for “his humor and genius.” He added, “There’s really no way of creating the role of Mark Twain without being onstage. He was a speaker, first and foremost; he did it before he was a famous writer. It’s how he became famous as a writer, and it’s even how he wrote novels. He would write in the morning and then read them to his children.” Source: Yahoo Movies
