Shigeru Miyamoto Believes Its About Time For A New Character
You don’t hear many complaints when Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto brings out a new Mario or Zelda game, but when Miyamoto decides to introduce something completely new, you really get people paying attention. Japanese newspaper Sankei Shimbun attended Nintendo’s recent shareholders meeting, where Miyamoto apparently expressed interest in a new character.
Andriasang translated the newspaper’s report on Miyamoto’s comments.
“It’s about time for a new game character,” he said. “Perhaps this can be delivered next year.”
The last time Miyamoto introduced a new character for Nintendo’s core audience, we got Pikmin (and we’re still waiting on Pikmin 3!). In the meantime, he’s brought Miis, Nintendogs and other “characters” targeted for larger audiences. Which one will Miyamoto bring to the table this time?
